
Jesse Arnold Rhea, 84, died at his home Monday, July 11, 2016.
Jesse was born in Halifax County to the late Edward Alvin Rhea and Annie Beatrice Whitfield. Jesse loved to fly his airplane and riding his Harley. He was a lifelong member of Quankie Baptist Church and once served as a deacon. Jesse was also a former board member with the Rheasville Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wives, Mildred Little Rhea and Helen Dickens.
Surviving are his sons, Jesse Alvin Rhea and wife, Mary, and Robert John Rhea and wife, Lori, both of Roanoke Rapids; his daughters, Debra Rhea Brockwell and husband, Chris, of Valentines, VA and Betty Rhea Collins and husband, Bob, of Havelock, NC; his sister, Nancy Strickland of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 14, 2018 from 6-8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Dr. Lavelle Waters will conduct funeral services Friday, July 15, 2016 at Quankie Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Quankie Baptist Church, 4070 HWY 48, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 and/or PAN Foundation 1331 F Street NW, Suite 975, Washington, DC 20004
